Apparel Company Overcomes Seasonality to Increase Cash Flow with Help from Biz2Credit

Apparel Company Overcomes Seasonality to Increase Cash Flow with Help from Biz2Credit

Fashion is a seasonal business. Sales slow dramatically in January and February, so manufacturer inventories rise and prices drop. Importer and wholesale distributor Am-Tex Apparels sees this as an opportunity to buy at a dramatically reduced cost.

Bishwajit Majumder, company owner, explains, "We can buy merchandise more cheaply during January and February. We stock up now while prices are low, and hold inventory to sell when prices rebound in the spring. It's the best time of year to buy."

Am-Tex Apparels is a New York City-based importer and wholesaler of casual clothing for men, women, and children. In business since 2009, the Am-Tex Apparels owner was experienced in reading market trends. In order to capitalize on the mid-winter wholesale inventory surplus, Majumder turned to Biz2Credit.

Majumder explained to case manager, Sam Dophen that he sought $25,000 to buy inventory. After reviewing the company's goals, financials, and overall qualifications, Dophen realized the company met the lending criteria for an SBA loan. Timing was a critical function in order to minimize interest exposure while having the funds readily available when needed. Biz2Credit coordinated funding and completed the loan process within one month's time.

The ability to read and act on industry trends is a critical component of success. Having the right amount of money on hand in order to capitalize on trends can be a difficult balancing act for a small business. Says Mujumder: "Biz2Credit understood what I was trying to do, and they helped me do."
